Resident Development and Program Administration/Infrastructure

  • Resident retreat: July 1 for junior orientation NEW and October/November for preparation to the CN service
    • Team building activity, orientation and practice to home call and professionalism
    • Topic (Professionalism, Cultural competency, Medical ethics, Medical disparities)
    • Reading assignment in advance will be provided in preparation for a portion of the retreat.  Afternoon focus on team building and clinical experience training
  • Resident class retreat (combined with Adult neurology (late winter) NEW-coordinated with Adult chiefs
  • Residency Review Committee:  Formed in 2015 as part of the milestones initiative:
    • Meets 2nd and 4th Friday of the month at 2:30pm after Grand Rounds
    • Standing invitation to all Faculty on the CCC committee as well as CN Chief Residents.
    • Forum to address resident related concerns in prospective fashion
    • Second portion of meeting from 3:45 reserved for CCC meeting to discuss resident milestone, evaluations, and faculty development
  • QI project: Longitudinal QI project requirement
    • Team based out of our CN Ambulatory Care Network Practice
    • Focus on addressing issues surrounding persons with neurological disease and disability specifically in our community patient population with associated health care disparities issues: Language, health care literacy, poverty, etc..
    • Focus on Pediatric Epilepsy population addressing improving patient access to care, patient education on disease diagnosis and management, and community outreach
    • Additional Health care disparities focus on patient education in native language
    • Improvement in collaborative 360 patient care with other medical and paramedical professionals who are part of the clinic
    • Work to develop a home visit program
