Senior Child Neurology Residents

During their senior year (Y3), CN residents fulfill similar obligations and work in collaboration with the Neurology Chief Resident. The responsibilities are divided between the PY3 residents with the assistance of the chief resident including scheduling of resident clinical rotations, coordinating of resident conference activities, inviting speakers and scheduling of Child Neurology Division Rounds, handling other administrative matters regarding resident activities, oversight of resident performance (with the help of the Program Director) and serving as advocates for the residents in discussions with the faculty. They will also serve as representatives of the Child Neurology Department to the hospital house staff committee and are invited to attend monthly GME meetings on the third Wednesday of the month at 2pm in the Myrna Daniels Heart Center in Milstein 1st floor conference room 1-2.

Resident Meetings

The Program Director will meet with the all pediatric neurology residents quarterly to review issues regarding the residency program.  Once annually this meeting will take the form of a review of the goals and objectives of the residency program as a whole, in accordance with RRC requirements.

Resident Research

A resident research project is a required component of every CN resident’s experience at Columbia.  Each resident will have an assigned Research Mentor.  The scope of each resident’s research project can vary.  The project can entail published case report, case series, IRB approved clinical or basic science research project or abstract presentation at a national conference.

Annual Resident Research Day

There is an annual resident research day in the spring of every year that allows residents to share completed and ongoing research work with their co-residents and faculty.
