The goals of post-graduate clinical neurophysiology education at Columbia represent a broad target of the institutional effort and its educational philosophy:
- To provide trainees with the knowledge for the evaluation and treatment of patients with neurophysiological disturbances of the nervous system, including the appropriate technical skills necessary to evaluate such patients
- To prepare trainees for the independent and ethical practice of clinical neurophysiology by providing an educational experience that is based upon supervised clinical work with increasing responsibilities for outpatients and inpatients.
- To encourage the continued intellectual growth and the habit of lifelong study in trainees through mentorship.
- To provide a comprehensive educational experience for trainees, based on the ACGME six core competencies:
