Electives

Electives are formalized rotations allowing fellows to pursue clinical and research activities of their interest and choice. 

Requirement of electives:

  • Written elective request form must be submitted to the education office no later than 30 days for in-house electives (CUIMC) subject to the approval of the Program Director.
  • Away electives require no less than 90 days advanced notice to the Education Office, subject to the approval of the Program Director and the GMEC.
  • A plan for use of elective time prior to its start with written goals & objectives.
  • Faculty member overseeing elective activities who is able to provide verbal feedback and written evaluation at the end of the elective

Examples of Electives Available Include:

  • Continuous EEG/seizures in critically ill patients
  • Neuropsychiatry
  • Epilepsy research
  • Intensive outpatient management
  • Sleep medicine
  • Participation in the Neuromodulation Clinic (Dr. Srinivasan) 
  • Participation in the Ketogenic Diet Clinic (Dr. McBrian)
