Residents are assigned to the following rotations, for which detailed goals and objectives are provided. These goals and objectives are provided to the residents in the Neurology Resident Handbook provided to all residents at the beginning of each year in July. They are also available on the departmental website. They are reviewed and updated annually.
Year 1 (PGY2):
- Neurological Intensive Care Unit
- Neurology Stroke Inpatient Service
- General Neurology Consult Service
- Vascular Neurology Consult Service
- Pediatric Neurology Consult Service
- Night Float: Junior inpatient night float (Cross Coverage) and Admitting Night Gloat
- Clinic-elective weeks - which include four sessions of continuity clinic, two sessions of EMG, a structured small group learning session and elective sessions
- Neurooncology
- Electives
Year 2 (PGY3):
- Neurological Intensive Care Unit
- Neurology Stroke Inpatient Service
- General Neurology Inpatient Service
- General Neurology Consult Service
- Vascular/Stroke Neurology Consult Service
- Flex Rotation (primarily helps the consult service but also can help the inpatient services)
- Pediatric Neurology Consult Service
- Night Float: Admitting Night Float and Consult Night Float
- Clinic-elective weeks - which include four sessions of continuity clinic, two session of EMG, and elective sessions
- Neuro-oncology

Year 3 (PGY4):

There is one month of vacation time annually.
The PGY1 residents rotate on general neurology for eight weeks and and complete one month on the general neurology inpatient service, two weeks in the Epilepsy Monitoring Unit, and two weeks that are a mixture of consults and outpatient clinics.
Over the four years, residents will complete, on average:
- Inpatient ward/stroke junior: 9 weeks
- Inpatient ward/stroke senior: 15 weeks
- Admitting night float: 5 weeks
- Junior night float rotation: 5 weeks
- ICU: 8 weeks
- Pediatrics: 12 weeks
- Consult: 23 weeks
- Neuro-oncology: 3 weeks
- Neuro-muscular/EMG : 7-8 weeks (divided as two half day session during each clinic elective block = 13 days per year = 39 days over four year)
- EEG/ Adult Epilepsy Monitoring Unit: 2 weeks (done during PGY1 year)
- Psychiatry: 4 weeks
- Continuity clinic: 4 sessions every 4 weeks (52 sessions per year)
- Elective (either as stand alone elective weeks, or as part of clinic-elective block): 32
This meets the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology requirements for board certification.
