Description:
Some residents will be assigned to longitudinal outpatient stroke clinic for six months.
Objectives:
- Recognize the symptoms characteristic of stroke and neuro-vascular disorders
- Describe stroke syndromes and neurological localization
- Learn neurovascular anatomy
- Identify mechanisms of neuro-vascular disorders
- Diagnose and manage common neuro-vascular disorders
- Identify uncommon and rare neuro-vascular disorders
- Understand stroke secondary prevention
- Identify criteria for surgical evaluation and treatment of neurovascular disorders
- Interpret Doppler studies (TCDs and carotid dopplers)
Requirements:
- Attend assigned clinics and see at least one new and two follow-up patients per session
Schedule:
- You are expected to attend the following conference during your week:
- NICU conference (Tuesday/Thursday 12pm NICU conference room)
- Stroke conference (Friday 12pm)
- The rest of your weekly schedule will be published based on the attending schedules
- Check amion for daily clinic attending assignments
- Check EPIC to view patient appointments for your assigned attending
- Contact Chief Resident if schedule is not published 1 week prior to your rotation
